Tundra climates tend to be very windy. The wind speed is usually somewhere from 50-100km/h (30-60mph) The precipitation, however, is desert like. There is only around 15-25cm (6-10in.) per year. There is the most precipitation in the summer time. During the winter temperatures range from a low -50 °C (-58 °F) to -28 °C (-18 °F). During the summer, temperatures range from 3 °C (37 °F) to 12 °C (54 °F) The ground is frozen beneath the top layer of soil which is why there are a very low number to no trees in tundra biomes. The soil is low in nutrients and minerals except for areas that are fertilized by animal droppings.
